Welcome to the Perry Removals of Cambridge website. This website has been designed to help you through the process of moving home with information not only on the removal itself but on other pre and post removal day issues.
Perry Removals have been moving Cambridge for the last 50 years and have seen how it has grown over these years and is continuing to do so. In 2001 Cambridge city had a population of around 110,000 of which 22,000 were students. comparing this to 1801 when there were 11,000 folk and 1901 at 38,000 people.
The explosion in homes over the last 100 to 200 years becomes apparent. Famous for punts, 'Silicon Fen' hi-tech, two universities the Footlights review, and Kings College Chapel Cambridge is steeped in history with more history in the making. It is however surprising that Cambridge has no cathedral, yet despite this was only given city status in 1951. It is one of very few to hold a City Charter without the usual requisite cathedral.
Among the famous with Cambridge connections are or were Oliver Cromwell, John Major, Stephen Hawking, Samuel Pepys, Richard Attenborough but by far one of the most influential people who lived his whole life in the area until his death in 2007 at the age of 103 was Sir Arthur Marshall. Born and educated in Cambridge at the Perse school, he later went on to Jesus College to study engineering. He was an Olympic athlete, and an inspiration and mentor for the blockbuster film 'Chariots of Fire'. In 1929 he and his father David, built an airstrip in their back garden, then 6 years later started to establish what is now Marshall's Cambridge Airport. During 1935 to 1945, Marshall Aerospace played a key role in the war effort training over 20,000 pilots and instructors for the war effort. More recently they manufactured the famous 'Droop Nose' for Concorde and have become the largest single employer in Cambridge. In 2011 it has been announced that Marshall's Cambridge Airport will be running scheduled flights to European destinations. In addition to work for Marshall's, Perry Removals have carried out 1,000's of residential Cambridge moves from homes in £80,000 to £10million price range, plus items from The Round Church, major solicitors, most of the University Colleges, Addenbrookes hospital and Shire Hall.
